Thou Shalt Not Covet….Unless It’s For A Meme!

Okay, this was supposed to be about what I can’t live without as a nurse. Well, let’s put it this way, this is the stuff that keeps me sane as a nurse and gives me “down time”, so I consider them indispensable!

Well I’ve been dying for a chance to use this photo for over a year and now I can!

I’ve been tagged by apgaRN at Salad Tongs, Anyone with a meme!

I’m supposed to name five things I can’t live without and one thing I covet.

So here goes:

Number One: I can’t live without my rock and roll, specifically the Bee Gees!

Yes, I’ve been a proud Bee Gee Babe since before I could vote! If anything happens to Barry or Robin I’ll be in a bad state. Maurice and Andy were hard enough to lose.

Journey goes along with the Bee Gees as Number One in my meme.

New lead singer Jeff Scott Soto is a powerhouse performer and I love the guy!

Yes, Journey changes members more than some people change their underwear but I’m a die-hard fan for 22 years now and nothin’ gonna change that!

I’ve probably seen them in concert, conservatively, 20 times.

Put me on a deserted island and give me Journey.

One happy woman!

Number Two: I could never live without my Blog Father, James Lileks.

He’s been writing “The Bleat” since 1996, back when it was an AOL online diary.

Monday through Friday, the first site I hit when the computer cranks up is James’ website.

I had the guts to start a blog because of this guy. My daughter told me I write like him (in my dreams) and I floated on a cloud for a week!

His only flaw? He hates the Bee Gees.

But hey, I’m an open-minded person….

Other than that, I think we were separated at birth!

Go check out the site, and plan to spend some time because it’s a fun collection of everything and you will laugh.

Number Three: After eighteen months, this blog has become so much a part of my life I can’t imagine living without it or my “web guy”. You all know Shane by now. Without him, Emergiblog would not be what it is today.

Number Four: Did you really think I’d make a list like this without including God’s greatest gift to man: the Macintosh? Specifically the MacBookPro?

What you see is what I’m typing on right now and it goes with my iPod Nano and Bose iPod dock.

Good lord, how did I live before iTunes?”

Number Five: This one is pretty obvious, I live for Notre Dame football.

Thank goodness I have NASCAR to get me through the lack of football over the next few months!

And now….what I covet the most is:

A large home on the bluffs of Mendocino, California.

I even checked out Mendocino Coast District Hospital.

I’ll never have it, but I’ll always want it!

If you hear that I’ve won the lottery, you’ll know where to find me!

And now I must tag two more nurses…..

Who shall I bestow this honor upon?

I’ll choose Keith at Digital Doorway (I would love to see his list!!!) and…

Julie at Life in the NHS!

Kim… Great list! I’m sure Shane got a kick out of Number Three. After receiving his patient and helpful answers to a few dumb questions I’ve had lately, I’m starting to understand your infatuation. 🙂 And after all the snow and cold we’ve had in my neck of the woods this winter, I’d give my left leg for a home ANYwhere in California right now!
Thanks for keeping the ball rolling,

You mentioned in one of your blog entries that you are returning to school for your BSN. What are the advantages of doing so? How can I find out more about the pros and cons? Thanks from an older newbie,

i was just perusing you tube for bee gees and andy gibb videos earlier today! oh. my. god, did i love them more than anything, ever since the early 70s, and then andy came along [sigh].

lileks is one of the most adept out there at finding the perfect turn of phrase. i used to read him daily but got tired of the trips to target. still, i check in every few days and never fail to be amused.

Lileks is the only reason the (Red) Star Tribune is readable (at least on the days he’s published).

But there’s that troubling Hummels jones of his….
