The Literary Project: One Photo, Five Stories

This is the photo.
The challenge?
A story of less than 1000 words, using this photo as inspiration.
Five bloggers took on the challenge posed by Maria at Intueri: to contemplate.
Here are the links to the stories, all based on this theme:
“A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words”
Many thanks to Maria for this literary challenge! This one definitely made ya think!

All of them very entertaining and well written. I was inspired to give it a go myself but found it much more difficult than I had at first thought. Maybe I’ll post it when I finish it in a few months

Hi Kim,
Sorry for writing in late. I just started my internship and it’s been crazy busy.
I liked your take on the picture, how spurious notions of beauty can be, like, for example, the Chinese women of the previous century who had to bind their feet. Or some South American tribes where the women wear rings around their necks to elongate them.
