Hey Now, You’re An All-Star!

Yeah!!!!

My first NASCAR race and my guy wins the million dollar All-Star Race!

Yeah, and you can bet your socks I voted like nobody’s business to make sure he DID get in if he did not qualify in.

And then he wins.

It’s the thrill of a lifetime, truly. If you aren’t a fan, you can’t imagine and if you are a fan, I don’t have to describe it.

It’s Monday, I’m exhausted, I’m hoarse and I am still in North Carolina, awaiting my flight home via Houston.

I cannot get over how polite people are here in NC! Everyone smiles, everyone calls you “ma’am”, everyone has time to talk to you. Hell, everyone has time! There is a whole different pace here, and it took me exactly 24 hours to get used to it. I am most definitely in a “North Carolina State of Mind”. It’s great. The only place greener is Ireland.

There is an entire world out here that is NOT California.

Wish I could stay.

I’ll be back next year, only this time I’ll be staying for the Coca-Cola 600, too.

I’m a NC native who has been in CA for 8 years. I went through major culture shock the first year I was here. Everyone in CA seemed so rude!! I’ve since learned that is not so but it took me a while to get used to the differences. NC and CA are two different worlds. I’m glad you had a positive experience in my home state.

Hey, I was waiting for you to post on this! I thought about you on Sunday morning when I read the race story - how exciting! It is really a thrill to see your racer win when you are there at the race in person. Our guy won at Richmond in 2005 to make it into the chase, so cool!!

Welcome to NC and Nascar! I had to work the weekend at the local ER, and you can imagine the odd carnage - but there is NOTHING like seeing a race live - I’m glad Kasey won for you - I need Jr. to win when I’m there!

You have to contact me next year when you come back - we’re 30 minutes from the track…

I loved visiting NC and would love to retire there one day. I’m having a hard time figuring out if I want the ocean or the mountains. Maybe I’ll win the lottery and do both.. Yeah right!
